Food for Thought? Empty Food for Thought?

Post by Gander Sat Nov 05, 2016 10:16 pm

So i am writing this as i am in need of help. Both myself and my wife aren't great cooks. when i say not good... i mean we don't eat extremely healthy ( we try ) however we want our boys to eat healthy. At the moment we buy a lot of the Raffertys packets. They seem to be great nutrition and our boy never really complains when eating them. We make the basic stuff for him also but what i am seeing if anyone knows of any easy to do recipes and ideas that would motivate myself to help Kal eat better.  Please by all means share links to sites or even type out easy to do instructions.

Maybe you could try involving Kal in your cooking to make it fun and get you both motivated. There would be so much going on for him, sensory processing touching all the food and different types of equipment, speech while you talk to him about what you're doing etc. I've found if we make a meal plan for the week and only buy that food (i don't know how you shop but you can get coles to deliver straight to your kitchen) then you cut out a lot of bad foods. Danny jr is a fussy eater sometimes so i tell him we're baking a chocolate cake but it's really full of cacao, bananas, and dates and looks like a chocolate cake. You could make and freeze things like if he likes macaroni and cheese for example you could make a healthy version of it by blending cauliflower, pumpkin and nutritional yeast for the sauce and freezing it so all you have to do is heat it up at night.

Great ideas Cat. So do you prep for the entire week and do the cooking all at once? or overnight still make the food and does Danny eat the same meals as what you eat?
